Starting today, October 1, the municipal dairy kitchen "Am-Am" - Blagoevgrad is introducing fully compostable (biodegradable) and harmless food bowls that contribute to the healthy diet of the youngest residents of the municipality. The bowls are made entirely of plant-based materials, for the insulation of which corn starch is used, and meet all applicable standards and regulatory documents for food contact products. They withstand temperature amplitudes from -10 to +100 degrees and can be easily cooled in a refrigerator and heated in a microwave oven.
Thus, from the beginning of October, in addition to providing complete and healthy food for hundreds of children aged between 10 months and 3 years in the municipal dairy kitchen, parents will be able to be sure that it will also be delivered in harmless packaging. It guarantees that the various menus will be kept warm, tasty and delivered in a manner that guarantees environmental protection and improved waste management in the municipality.
In October 2025, the first brown containers for separate collection of food and green waste from commercial, educational, social and municipal sites in Blagoevgrad will also be deployed, intended for the anaerobic plant, which will serve the municipalities of Blagoevgrad, Simitli, Boboshevo, Kocherinovo and Rila.
The use of compostable packaging allows them to be processed directly with the food and beverage residues in them in the anaerobic plant and thus increase the quality and quantity of the compost produced, as well as save natural resources and costs from the municipal budget related to waste management.
